Job Description:

The School District of Mauston is seeking candidates for an Student Support and Engagement Specialist at Grayside Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will be part of our pupil services team and will provide services and work to ensure that students and families experience safe and positive learning environments.

The Student Support and Engagement Specialist is responsible for fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive school environment that promotes student success through relationship-building, restorative practices, social-emotional learning, and proactive student support. The Specialist works collaboratively with students, families, teachers, counselors, administrators, and community partners to address barriers to learning, improve student engagement, support positive behavior, and increase student attendance. The Student Support and Engagement Specialist serves as a mentor, advocate, and resource for students, helping them develop the skills necessary to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. This position emphasizes prevention, intervention, and restoration rather than punitive disciplinary practices.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in one of the following: Education, School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field. Preferred applicants will hold or have the ability to obtain a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction license in teaching, counseling, or pupil services. Individuals interested in applying should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. The ability to facilitate small groups and manage behaviors is a must. Must pass background check and drug screening upon offer of employment.
