DescriptionStudent Support Counselor InternPosition DetailsReports To: Student Support CounselorPosition Type: InternshipResponsibilitiesWorking with the Student Support Counseling TeamPracticing active engagement of all students and building positive relationships with appropriate boundariesIdentifying, reporting, and developing evidence-based interventions for targeted studentsConsulting and collaborating with campus and system staff, parents/guardians, and community partners in a multi-disciplinary approach to identify and reduce barriers to student achievement and persistenceSeeking out community resources to establish partnerships that can provide access and services to students, parents, and staffUsing knowledge of community resources and partnerships to make appropriate referrals for students and familiesMaintaining accurate records while ensuring adequate safeguards for the privacy and confidentiality of information and recordsAdditional duties as assignedQualificationsCurrently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program pursuing a bachelor's degree in social work or counselingCurrently enrolled in a field placement course within a graduate programBelief in and commitment to the mission and core values of YES Prep Public SchoolsOpenness to giving and receiving frequent feedbackAbility to maintain emotional control under stressAbility to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environmentDemonstrated ability to work on a teamA dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professionalBenefitsThis is an unpaid internship and requires receipt of college credit for participation.
