    Job Title: MLSS (Multi Level System of Support) Coach (formerly School Culture Coach)

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Reports to: Coordinator of Student Support

    Supervises: N/A

    Pay Grade: Teacher Salary Schedule

    Term of Employment: 10 months

    JOB SUMMARY

    The MLSS Coach provides differentiated coaching across individual or multiple school sites to strengthen school culture through equitable, data-informed practices, reducing disproportionate outcomes for identified student groups. This role supports administrators and educators by strengthening schoolwide systems, delivering teacher support, and supporting student problem-solving across both academic and behavioral domains. The Coach collaborates with school-based teams to analyze data, identify system, adult, and student needs, and implement evidence-based practices that increase student engagement, accelerate academic achievement, and reduce disproportionality. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating professional learning that bridges academic instruction with social-emotional supports, monitoring progress using school data, leading coaching cycles, communicating through asset-based and culturally responsive practices, and providing regular updates to school and district leadership.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education:
    • Required - Bachelor's degree in Education from an accredited university
    • Preferred - Master's degree in Education, School Administration, School Counseling, or Social Work from an accredited university
    • Certification:
    • Required - Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Teacher License
    • Preferred - Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) or willing to be trained within 6 months of employment
    • Experience:
    • Required - Five (5) years of teaching experience in a school environment
    • Required - Experience coordinating equity practices including tiered interventions, social and emotional learning, and restorative practices
    • Required - Minimum of one year leading sustained, structured adult learning cycles on adult practice and organizational culture.
    • Language:
    • Required - English
    • Preferred - English and Spanish

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Delivers differentiated coaching and assistance to administrators and educators, including:

    strengthening schoolwide systems, providing job-embedded teacher support, and supporting student problem-solving.

    • Collaborates with school-based teams to analyze data and identify system-level, adult practice, and student-level needs, supporting the design and implementation of evidence-based, equitable practices that increase student engagement and reduce disproportionality.
    • Plans and facilitates professional learning that build adult capacity to implement consistent, equitable practices with fidelity across classrooms and school environments.
    • Uses school data to monitor progress, identify disproportionality, and provide supports at the systems, teacher, and student levels across individual schools or multiple school sites and provide regular updates to the school and district leadership regarding progress at assigned schools
    • Develop coaching capacity through professional learning including but not limited to monthly meetings, district professional learning opportunities, and content training.
    • Effectively facilitate coaching cycles that includes goal setting, identifies possibilities and obstacles, explores diverse perspectives and promotes reflection in the coaching conversation.
    • Communicate from an asset based, person first language using a variety of culturally and linguistically responsive communication methods.
    • Participate in other duties as assigned by the Coordinator.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge and understanding of child to adolescent characteristics and behaviors
    • Knowledge of best practices in Multi-Leveled Systems of Support to meet students' social and emotional needs
    • Demonstrates understanding of educational equity, disproportionality, and systemic barriers, and experience applying practices that improve outcomes for marginalized student groups.
    • Effective and efficient time and task management skills including planning, managing, and organizing.
    • Experience coordinating and delivering professional learning for a variety of internal and external stakeholders
    • Skilled at facilitation, consensus building and conflict resolution skills
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with district and school staff
    • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to work within the organizational structure to facilitate change
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
    • Ability to manage schedules, balance competing building needs, and adapt coaching supports across diverse school contexts.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasionally required to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.; consistently and repetitively operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine and/or computer printer; regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information with administration, staff, and the public. Occasionally be required to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted. This position requires regular travel between district school buildings during the workday.
