    Student Support Services Paraprofessional - Cross Categorical Room

    Position Details

    The Student support services paraprofessional provides academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students identified as At-Risk and/or receiving Special Education services. The Student Support Paraprofessional works collaboratively with general education teachers, special education staff, and building administrators to promote student success and independence.

    REPORTS TO: Director of Student Support Services.

    Work Calendar: 184 Days

    WORK LOCATION: Richmond Middle School - Cross Categorical Room

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
    • Meet state and federal requirements for paraprofessional certification.
    • Experience working with children in educational or support settings preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
    • Ability to follow teacher/administrator directions, adapt to diverse student needs, and maintain confidentiality.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Cross Categorical Room

    • Support Students with diverse disabilities and learning needs
    • May involve toileting or assistance with eating as needed
    • Implement IEP accommodations and collect data as directed
    • Promote inclusion and independence across settings
    • collaborate with supervising teachers

    Working Environment. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. This position may require occasional evening or weekend work for school events or parent meetings. This position is performed in a standard school classroom environment.
