QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Must be currently enrolled in a university educator preparation program Alternative Certification Program candidates are only allowed opportunites in critical need areas Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of subjects assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur Ability to apply principles in logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems Ability to concentrate, interpret policy and procedures, reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: (UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF A MENTOR/ COOPERATING TEACHER):Develop and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements in student learning styles. Prepares lessons that reflect accomodations for differences in student learning styles. Presents subject matter according to the guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board Policies and Admistrative Regulations. Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities. Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/ learning process. Helps students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Be a positive rolemodel for students and supports the mission of Seguin Independent School District while following the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. Creates a classroom environment conductive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students. Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student/ Parent Handbook. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, student parents and community members. Uses effective communicationskills to present information accurately and clearly. Maintains confidentiality of information.
