JOB DESCRIPTION

Teaching Aide

Hourly Pay Rate: $20.00

The Teaching Aide will support the professor(s) or staff member(s) in various administrative and operational tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Attending and completing instructional staff training prior to the arrival of students
  • Assisting in maintaining classroom order
  • Working with individual students
  • Leading break activities
  • Providing administrative assistance
  • Handling routine disciplinary problems
  • Chaperoning and assisting with logistics on field experiences
  • Teaching the course on occasion or holding sessions, as requested by the instructor
  • Gathering the necessary equipment and supplies, enforcing safety procedures, and ensuring that the classroom is cleaned and materials are properly stored at the end of the day
  • Maintaining and submitting a master list of materials for your course and a list of any equipment broken or damaged by students or staff
  • Ensuring that students are always supervised, addressing student behavior issues while in their presence
  • Assisting in ensuring the health and safety of all students by following site medical protocols
  • Attending daily check-ins with academic staff and any additional meetings called by program staff
  • Assisting program staff with program tasks and evaluation
  • Packing, storing, disposing of, and completing an inventory of course materials at the end of programming
  • Acting as a resource and academic support for students

Qualifications:

  • Active enrollment as a student at Tulane University
  • A Federal Work Study Award (potentially)
  • Prior or active enrollment in a particular class or course of study (potentially)
  • A required grade in a prior class or coursework (potentially)

About Us:

This position will help student employees demonstrate and cultivate the career readiness competencies in accordance with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

You must demonstrate high proficiency in spoken and written Spanish.

You will be simulating the emotional and physical aspects of a real patient as a tool for the instructional process. You must attend required training dates (two, four-hour sessions) and required event dates (two, four-and-a-half sessions). You must evaluate your schedule to determine your availability to commit to required dates, prior to accepting the position. You are responsible for confirming that these dates do not conflict with exams or major assignments, and that your participation does not constitute an excused absence. You are responsible for following directions, taking instruction, and clearly communicating. Transportation to and from work assignments is your responsibility.
