Position Summary

The Linfield University Education Department invites applications for part-time Student Teacher Clinical Supervisors to support undergraduate teacher candidates during the Fall 2026 student teaching semester. Student Teacher Clinical Supervisors play a vital role in preparing future educators by observing classroom instruction, providing coaching and meaningful feedback, and partnering with cooperating teachers to ensure teacher candidates are successful in their clinical experiences.

Supervisor appointments are made on an as-needed basis based on student enrollment, endorsement area, and supervisor availability. This temporary, part-time position may be completed through a combination of local in-person visits and approved virtual observations.

Current needs include supervisors with expertise in:

• English Language Arts
• ESOL
• Mathematics
• Science
• Social Studies

Supervisors typically mentor 1-4 student teachers per semester, with an estimated commitment of 25-35 hours per student teacher during the term.

Responsibilities

Student Teacher Clinical Supervisors:

• Observe teacher candidates during their student teaching placements.
• Provide timely, constructive coaching and written feedback that supports professional growth.
• Evaluate candidate performance using university and licensure standards.
• Collaborate with cooperating teachers and Education Department faculty to monitor candidate progress.
• Complete required observation reports and documentation.
• Support teacher candidates in developing effective instructional practices, professional dispositions, and reflective teaching habits.
• Serve as ambassadors of Linfield University's teacher education program and its commitment to excellence in educator preparation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of PreK-12 teaching experience
• Master's degree in Education or closely related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices and teacher development
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with university faculty and school partners

The Linfield University Education Department is seeking part-time student teaching supervisors for student teachers starting August 2024. We are looking for energetic, qualified, and dedicated teacher leaders to observe, support, and give feedback to full-time student teachers during their clinical experiences. Qualifications:

• Seeking supervisors with teaching experience in a variety of endorsement areas; our immediate need is for elementary education
• Minimum of three years of preK-12 teaching experience
• Master's degree in education, or related field experience
• Multilingual including Spanish Language is desired, but not required

Cultural Competency and Equity

(1) The Education Preparation Program designs, implements, and evaluates curriculum and provides experiences for candidates to acquire and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions necessary to help all students learn equitably.

(a) Assessments indicate that candidates can demonstrate and apply proficiencies related to cultural competency and equitable student learning.

(b) Experiences provided for candidates include working with diverse populations, including higher education and PreK-12 school faculty, candidates, and students in PreK-12 schools.

(c) A cohort of candidates and faculty from diverse groups informs the unit's curriculum, pedagogy, and field experiences in culturally inclusive, meaningful ways.

(d) Diverse faculty and peers assist candidates in addressing teaching and learning from multiple perspectives and different life experiences. These experiences provide for different voices in the professional development and work of the education profession.

(e) The greater range of cultural backgrounds and experiences among faculty and candidates enhances understanding of cultural competency, inclusion and equity for all students in the classroom.
