This recruitment will be used to fill two part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) student technical assistant for the Crops and Soil Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU).
This position will be located off-campus at the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service Plant Materials Center (PMC) at OSU's Hyslop Farm in Corvallis, OR. Incumbent maintains and harvests native seed production fields, cleans seed, and collects field plot data for cover crop and native wildflower/pollinator studies, as well as assisting with the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Driving government vehicles is an essential function; this position must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record while serving in the position.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Work schedule is 10-20 hours/week spring term Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am- 4:30pm, with opportunity for full time work in the summer. Work conditions are outdoors on a farm all day with exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions such as cold rain and extreme heat; duties include lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lb); standing, kneeling or crawling for long periods of time; walking over plowed fields or uneven surfaces; and other strenuous activities such as hoeing weeds, shoveling, operating push mowers, and string trimmers.
