JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Director of the Student Achievement and Resource Center, the SARC Community Tutors provide support to middle and high school students at participating community schools though one-on-one and with small group tutoring.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community College provides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
Serve as a positive representative of Dodge City Community College and the SARC while working at community school sites.
Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring to middle and high school students in math, English Language Arts, and/or reading.
Provide academic assistance with classwork, homework and missing assignments.
Assist students with reading comprehension, writing, math concepts and other appropriate academic skills based on the tutor's area(s) of competency.
Help students develop organization, study skills, time-management skills and positive academic habits.
Work collaboratively with the Director of SARC and designated middle and/or high school personnel.
Follow the policies, procedures, schedules and expectations established by Dodge City Community College, the SARC, and participating schools.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries when working with minors.
Maintain confidentiality of student information, records, academic performance, and discussions.
Complete tutoring reports required by the SARC and/or participating schools.
Accurately clock in and out and maintain work hours through ADP according to DCCC and SARC procedures.
Notify the Director of SARC and assigned school personnel as soon as possible regarding an absence, schedule conflict, or inability to report to an assigned school.
Attend and complete required SARC tutor training, including training related to working with middle and high school students.
Communicate concerns regarding a student or tutoring session to the Director of SARC and/or appropriate school personnel.
Provide tutoring only during approved work hours and at assigned locations.
Maintain reliable transportation to and from assigned community school sites.
Arrive on time and prepared for tutoring sessions.
When working with high school dual-credit students, make appropriate student referrals to college offices, departments or professionals when necessary.
All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma/GED.
Must be enrolled in and maintain six (6) credit hours at Dodge City Community College.
Must have completed a minimum of one semester at Dodge City Community College.
Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Demonstrated academic competency in at least one of the following areas:
Math
English Language Arts
Reading
In good standing with student conduct.
Ability to effectively communicate and work with middle and high school students.
Ability to work effectively one-on-one and with small groups.
Dependable, responsible, and punctual.
Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with SARC and school personnel.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must have reliable personal transportation to and from assigned participating school sites.
Must be available to work during assigned tutoring hours, generally Monday through Thursday, and potentially Friday, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Must successfully complete required SARC tutor training and comply with any additional screening, training, or other requirements established by the participating school or school district.

Interest in education, community service, mentoring, or helping students succeed.
Ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse academic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
· Ability to tutor in more than one of the identified academic areas.
Physical Qualifications
Ability to bend, stoop, jump, kneel, and sit/stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to carry equipment and supplies.
Ability to ambulate and navigate stairs and ramps throughout the campus.
