Position Information

To assist in answering the main office phone line, schedule appointments, answer general inquiry, collect mail, and support department assessment initiatives.

Duties

  • Assists students with scheduling advising appointments and provides comprehensive information of situation and credentials of student to Advising Center staff.
  • Provides guidance to students on advising procedures, programs of study, and department information as it relates to individual student situation
  • Assists with Advising Center assessment collection, data entry, and data analysis.
  • Assists the Advising Center in achieving and maintaining systems and procedural compliance with academic requirements and standards.
  • Supports the operation and administration of the Advising Center, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and with university policies and procedures.
  • Plans, develops, evaluates and modifies methods, procedures, and structures required to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the advising process. Assists in answering the main phone, taking messages, and transferring calls in an appropriate manner that aligns with the policies and procedures of the university. Performs other duties as assigned.

Current WNMU Student.

Job Knowledge

  • Must have the ability work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community.
  • Must have the basic skils and knowledge of working with Microsoft Office- Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.
  • Must have knowledge of programs and services available to WNMU students, and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Working Conditions/ Physical Demands (With or Without Accommodations)

Normal office environment. Able to follow scheduled work hours and prescribed dress code. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, and sit for extended periods of time. Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication. Hearing ability for verbal communication/ conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions. Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
