POSITION SUMMARY - To teach the arts in the area of Art, Music, and/or Dance as a part of the Afterschool Programs for Children and Youth here at Mission Waco, and potentially with adult program participants (Manna House - men's residential recovery, and My Brother's Keeper - emergency shelter for adults). Work together to provide the Creative Arts Showcase at the end of each semester. MUST BE ELIGIBLE for FEDERAL WORK-STUDY. This is off-campus employment, so reliable transportation is important.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION--
REQUIRED HARD SKILLS: Minimum of 1 year performing or training in art, music and or dance; teaching experience; experience working with children and youth
REQUIRED SOFT SKILLS: Good Communication and Interpersonal Skills; Ability to communicate appropriately & compassionately under pressure; Represent Mission Waco's values with all program participants; Strong Work Ethic; Strategic Thinker; Flexible 15-20 hrs/wk (available in afternoons, early evenings, Saturday)
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Education practices; Performance skills; cultural competency; practice building relationships
Hourly Rate: $11-$12.50/hour (depending on new or returning student worker status and/or any recognized special skill level)
