Job Description:

Purpose/Role

• CELA: Assisting the lead teacher of a 3- and 4-year-old classroom.
• CARES: Overseeing PreK-5th grade students for after-school activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Mentoring elementary students
• Assisting with learning objectives
• Managing student behavior
• Communicating effectively with various supervisors
• Maintaining professional expectations as detailed in the student worker contract (Contact Mrs. Kemp for details)

Rate of Pay

• $8.50 per hour. Student employees cannot work more than 20 hours per week for all positions combined, or over 10 hours in a day. Student employees are paid bi-weekly. All student employees will be paid by direct deposit.

Minimum Qualifications and Employment Information

• Must have transportation to and from the location
• Must purchase and provide proof of tort liability to the education department
• Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
• No lower than a 2.0 GPA and retain 67% of all classes

Length of Employment

• Start date varies by student. All student employees will be terminated on or before the last day of the Spring Semester of each academic year. Evaluations are a factor in job retention and rehire.

Evaluation Procedures

• Written performance evaluations shall be completed for each student employee and discussed with the student employee, to include comments, praise, or criticism in a constructive manner. Supervisors will indicate if they wish to continue employing the student through the next semester. A copy of the evaluation form shall be maintained by the supervisor, and the original copy given to the Human Resource Office. All student employees shall be evaluated at least once per term (or at the end of an assignment).
