    Job Description

    Purpose within the Organization:

    The purpose of this position will be to provide assistance and support for GCU Commencement Ceremonies. This position will help assist the Event Services department to plan, facilitate, and execute the event.  Student worker will be responsible for event preparation, organization, facilitation, and tracking emails with minimal supervision. Event work will involve early morning, nights, and occasional weekends over the event weekend.

    Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

    • Student worker will be responsible for GCU Commencement Ceremony event preparation, organization, facilitation, and email tracking with minimal supervision. 
    • Working with students to register them for commencement and answer questions related to the ceremonies. 
    • Student worker will provide excellent customer service and communication. 
    • Student worker will work with varying levels of full-time employees as well as students –both ground and online.

    Qualifications:

    • Able to multitask and follow directions.
    • Must be detail oriented. 
    • Has initiative to handle tasks given to him/her and see them through.
    • Able to organize and prioritize tasks.
    • Excellent time management skills.
    • Able to work with Outlook, Excel and Word programs along with other computer skills. 
    • Has a reliable and dependable nature. Flexibility in schedule.
    • Able to work up to 20 hours a week (4 hour blocks per day; AM and/or PM shifts) along with some possible weekend hours.
    • Valid Drivers License and Clean Driving Record

    Experience/Education:

    Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

    • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
    • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
    • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

    You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

    Pay Rate: Minimum Wage

    Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027
