Student Worker - Office Assistant

Number of Openings: 4

Purpose/Objective of the Role:

Office Assistants support the professional staff with the everyday administrative responsibilities of the Residential Life & Dining Services office. Office Assistants provide front desk coverage, assist students and visitors, answer phone calls, complete general office tasks, and help maintain an organized and welcoming office environment. Interviews will begin on September 1, hiring decisions will be made by September 9, and the selected candidates will begin work on September 14.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to students, families, visitors, and campus partners.
  • Greet visitors and assist them with general questions or direct them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Answer office phone calls, record accurate messages, and route questions appropriately.
  • Serve as a general resource to students and families by providing approved information and referrals.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as filing, alphabetizing, copying, scanning, shredding, and organizing documents.
  • Assist with mail, forms, signage, keys, and other routine office responsibilities.
  • Run errands to campus offices and departments as needed.
  • Help keep the front desk, work areas, and shared office spaces clean and organized.
  • Assist professional staff with projects and recurring office tasks.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Residential Life & Dining Services staff and other student employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and office records.
  • Refer sensitive, complex, or policy-related questions to professional staff.

  • Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks.
  • Willingness to learn office procedures and Residential Life policies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work respectfully with students, families, staff, and visitors.
