Student Worker - Test the simulator that trains engineers on the world's largest engines
Real engines. Real ships. Your tests help keep the training platform reliable.
Our Cloud-based Engine Control System (ECS) Simulator is used at PrimeServ Academy to train engineers who operate and service two-stroke marine engines on vessels worldwide. It supports both instructor-led courses and self-learning modules, giving engineers hands-on experience with realistic engine control scenarios in a safe, scalable virtual environment.
Those scenarios need to work. Reliably. Every time. That is where you come in.
We are building a new automated test framework for our exercise scenarios, and we need a student worker to help write, run, and maintain those tests - and to support the broader platform with manual testing and new scenario development.
You will play an important role in:
The exercise scenarios are defined as state machines, structured sequences of engine states, sensor conditions, and operator tasks. Your job is to make sure they behave exactly as intended, at scale.
A day in your new role
You join the standup and get a quick rundown of which scenarios are being updated this week. You open a new exercise scenario the team is building and help wire up a few missing test steps.
In the afternoon, you help verify the latest changes that is scheduled to be released in production, by running a few exercise. You find an unexpected behavior and create a detailed bug report in the backlog, that can be picked up by a team member.
It is hands-on, technical work and there is always someone to help when you get stuck.
We imagine that you:

Nice to have:
You do not need to know everything from day one. We will get you up to speed on our tools and stack. What matters is that you are motivated, structured, and ready to contribute to a real product used by real engineers worldwide.
Welcome to EDED - Engine Control System DevOps
As part of the ECSDO (Engine Control System DevOps) team in our Tools & HILS department at Everllence, you will contribute to test automation and simulation technologies that support our engine control systems. You will join a team of four full-time engineers.
You will be working with colleagues who are passionate about what they do, but never take themselves too seriously.
We value quality, collaboration, and psychological safety, and we are not afraid to mix in fun, creativity, or the occasional burst of confetti. Transparency, openness to feedback, and shared learning are all part of our daily rhythm.
