Job Summary/Basic Function

The Music Department is looking for degree Tutors. Two for each degree program:

• Music Education
• Music Industry
• Bachelor of Arts in Music

Required Qualifications

MUST be a music major

• Sufficient knowledge of musical terms to proficiently educate music students
• Enrolled in the Music Department as a Music Student Major
• Able to teach the fundamentals of the art of music
• Critical thinking skills associated with reading and writing music
• Must be able to work independently and self-driven
• Must be punctual, dependable and trustworthy
• Performance experience with a variety of instruments
• Knowledgeable of all majors, class requirements, and the program in general.
• Ability to mentor as a positive role model.
• Must complete 3 required clearances (PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints).

Job Duties

• Provide one-to-one teaching experience in the areas of music composition, production, and instrumentation of musical instruments
• Show evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students
• Develop and maintain genuine, positive and consistent communication with students.
• Practice professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection and continuous improvement.
• Self-directed, proactive and intelligent

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Be able to sit and use a computer for the length of shift
• Be able to lift packages at most 10lbs
• Be able to walk for a length of shift
