Position Overview
This is a regular student clerical position in which the student will work with the Director of the Centre for Global Competency/Global Learning to develop, promote, coordinate, and evaluate the study abroad programs facilitated by the Centre for Global Competency.

Up to 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday, some nights and weekends

Department Specific Job Functions
Answers inquiries regarding study abroad programs. Counsel students on study abroad issues including course and program selection, class scheduling and registration. Exercises initiative in managing CGC email account and study abroad program updates through Via-TRM and CGC social media accounts. Assists UCO faculty with uploading study tours to Via-TRM. Maintain database of partner university programs. Serves in leadership position within the Global Leadership Ambassadors student organization. Assists with promoting study abroad including classroom presentations, weekly study abroad information sessions and campus-wide promotional initiatives. Executes events such as the annual study abroad fair to promote study abroad. Some nights and weekends are required. Processes travel insurance for all study abroad participants.
Enrollment Requirements
Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. F1/J1 Visa students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.
Summer Semester: To work in a regular student position during the summer semester, students must be enrolled in at least 3 summer credit hours or be enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in the minimum credit hours required for their classification and employment type. Students enrolled in fewer than 3 summer credit hours will be subject to FICA taxes during the summer term, which apply to both the student and the department. For Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) positions, students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate).
Note: New incoming students are not eligible for student employment until the semester in which they begin classes.
Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. Experience with studying abroad through UCO and familiarity with reserving rooms and equipment through Conference and Event Services at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with promotional material and web design is a plus. Ability to work independently, professionally, and maintain confidentiality. Must be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Although infrequent, employee must be able to lift and move supplies weighing up to twenty lbs.
