Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Sub Arc Welder for a weekend shift supporting the production of equipment used in the natural gas industry. This position requires precision welding, blueprint interpretation, and strict adherence to welding procedures and quality standards.
The ideal candidate has previous Sub Arc welding experience, produces consistently high-quality welds, and is committed to maintaining low rejection rates while meeting production goals.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous Sub Arc (SAW) welding experience required
Experience performing MIG and hand welding operations
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings
Strong attention to detail and commitment to weld quality
Ability to safely operate welding and cutting equipment
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform Sub Arc, MIG, and hand welding operations on production components
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and welding specifications
Set up and operate welding equipment according to established procedures
Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and customer requirements
Maintain productivity while meeting strict quality and safety standards
Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance concerns
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow all company safety policies, welding procedures, and quality requirements
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete:
20-inch Roll-Out MIG Stringer Test
80D2 wire, LA90, and 880M flux
Hot pass, fill, and cap required
100% X-Ray and Destructive NDT inspection must be passed
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to pass a 1G Sub Arc welding test
Knowledge of Carbon Arc, 2G MIG, and 2G GTAW welding processes
Previous experience in pressure vessel, pipeline, or natural gas equipment fabrication
Experience working in heavy industrial manufacturing environments
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various welding positions throughout the shift
Ability to safely operate welding equipment while wearing required PPE
Comfortable working around heavy steel, heat, sparks, welding fumes, and industrial machinery
Work Environment
Heavy industrial manufacturing facility supporting the natural gas industry
Fast-paced fabrication environment focused on safety, productivity, and quality
Exposure to welding equipment, heavy steel, overhead cranes, and manufacturing machinery
Weekend shift offering a 36-hour schedule while being paid for 40 hours
