
Subject Matter Expert, Rotating Machinery System One
- $84–$135 Per Hour

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert in Rotating Machinery for a first-of-a-kind advanced nuclear reactor program, which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in large vertical pump design and hardware lifecycle management looking to further their career in nuclear energy systems.
Provide technical oversight for large nuclear fluid pumps across design, testing, and manufacturing phases.
Review supplier deliverables and ensure pump designs meet performance and safety requirements.
Author and maintain pump specifications, design inputs, and qualification testing programs.
Lead development of complete design packages including calculations, drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA).
Support project planning and scheduling in alignment with overall plant design milestones.
Provide technical guidance on nuclear and non-nuclear design standards and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 15+ years of mechanical systems experience.
Demonstrated experience in large vertical pump design and manufacture.
Full hardware lifecycle experience from design concept through fabrication and commissioning.
Strong background in fluid and structural analysis, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing interpretation.
Proven ability to lead supplier coordination and multi-discipline design team efforts with minimal direction.
Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with nuclear fluid systems, high-temperature process environments, or sodium-cooled reactor technology.
Familiarity with NQA-1 or equivalent nuclear quality assurance programs.
Prior experience in supplier oversight within a nuclear or highly regulated industrial environment.
