Job Description
A nonprofit organizaton in New York City seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor (MSW) to join one of their outpatient behavioral facilities in Manhattan.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Days
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 6:15am to 1:45pm
- Setting: Outpatient clinic
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to adults in a medication-assisted treatment program
- Conduct intakes, assessments, and treatment planning with patients
- Support patients in addressing substance use, recovery, mental health, and related life challenges
- Maintain timely documentation in the electronic medical record and complete required paperwork
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team and participate in team meetings and supervision
Qualifications:
- At least 6 months of substance use disorder counseling experience
- Master of Social Work degree
- Ability to complete documentation within 48 hours
Desired Skills:
- 2+ years of substance use disorder counseling experience
- Bilingual Spanish skills
- Experience with motivational interviewing, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
