Non-profit social service agency seeks certified and experienced substance abuse counselors to conduct screening and assessments; provide individual and group counseling; develop treatment plans; create and maintain client charts in compliance with regulatory agencies and funder; facilitate relapse prevention and continuing care services; and provide follow-up and aftercare counseling and case management in residential and outpatient settings. Counselors must be registered or certified by a State of California-accredited institution. They are currently looking at residential and outpatient programs for both men's and women's settings. The schedule could require weekends/evenings, so it must be flexible. There are openings for evening and nighttime shifts. Prior experience working with clients in a substance abuse treatment program is required. Clinical Supervision toward licensure may be available for AMFT, APCC, and ACSW-level clinicians. Positions are currently available in Marin, Alameda, and Sacramento counties.

The requirements for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Substance Abuse counselor registration, certification, or clinical license from a State of California Accredited Institution; CCAPP, CADTP, CAADE, BBS (LMFT, LCSW, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience providing substance abuse treatment services with criminal justice populations (state parole and probation) is required.
  • Experience with evidence-based substance abuse treatment models and an understanding of treatment modalities is expected.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a criminal justice security clearance.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.

To be considered for a Drug and Alcohol Counselor Position, you must be certified by or at least registered with one of the following entities (being registered for school only does not count):
  • California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAAP) Accredited Program - Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor.
  • California Association of DUI Treatment Programs (CADTP) Accredited Program - Certified Alcohol & Other Drug Counselor.
  • California Association for Drug and Alcohol Educators (CAADE)Accredited Program.

Salary:
  • Registered: $28/HR (Depending on experience).
  • Certified: $31/HR (Depending on experience).
