About Gateway Counseling

Gateway Counseling is an outpatient substance use disorder treatment agency located in Spokane, Washington, operating for over 23 years. We are licensed and certified by the Washington State Department of Health as a Behavioral Health Agency (BHA) and provide services at ASAM levels 1.0 (Outpatient) and 2.1 (Intensive Outpatient). Our client population includes individuals seeking treatment voluntarily as well as those court-mandated through deferred prosecution and other legal referral pathways.

We are a small, close-knit practice committed to providing high-quality, trauma-informed, and person-centered care to our community. We are currently expanding our programming and are looking for a dedicated clinician to grow with us.


The Role

We are seeking a licensed or credentialed Substance Use Disorder Professional to join our clinical team. This position involves individual counseling, group facilitation, assessment, and treatment planning, and case management across our outpatient and intensive outpatient programs. The right candidate is passionate about SUD treatment, comfortable working with a court-involved population, and able to thrive in a small practice environment where flexibility and collaboration matter.

Hours and schedule vary and will be discussed in the interview or upon hire. You will be required to work some evenings for group facilitation. People that are dual credentialed with LMHC/LICSW are encouraged to apply.


Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling sessions to clients across outpatient (1.0) and intensive outpatient (2.1) levels of care
  • Facilitate group therapy and psychoeducation sessions
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments using ASAM criteria to determine appropriate level of care
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation per WAC 246-341 requirements
  • Complete court-ordered evaluations and assessments for deferred prosecution and DUI referrals
  • Submit monthly progress reports to courts and probation officers per RCW 10.05 requirements
  • Report noncompliance to courts and relevant parties in accordance with RCW 10.05.090
  • Participate in clinical supervision and team meetings
  • Coordinate care with referral sources, probation officers, attorneys, and other treatment providers with appropriate client consent
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality requirements at all times


Qualifications

Required:

  • Current, active Washington State SUDP or SUDPT credential in good standing
  • Experience providing substance use disorder counseling in an outpatient or IOP setting
  • Working knowledge of ASAM criteria and level of care determination
  • Familiarity with court-mandated treatment populations including deferred prosecution
  • Strong clinical documentation skills and ability to meet documentation deadlines
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small practice environment
  • Comfort with flexibility; this is a growing practice and roles evolve


Preferred:

  • Experience conducting DUI assessments and deferred prosecution evaluations
  • Experience with group facilitation
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
