An outpatient substance use treatment program is seeking a Substance Abuse Nurse (LPN) in New York, NY. This role supports patient care by dispensing medications, assisting with clinical assessments, and contributing to an interdisciplinary treatment team in a structured clinic setting.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day shift
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, with every other Saturday
- Hours: 6:15 AM to 1:45 PM; Saturdays 8:15 AM to 12:15 PM
- Setting: Outpatient clinic
Responsibilities:
- Dispense and administer prescribed medications while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Assess patients and provide care within the LPN scope of practice.
- Verify last methadone doses for patients returning from hospitals, detox programs, and other care settings.
- Carry out provider orders and assist during crises, emergencies, and clinical procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Qualifications:
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse license in New York State.
- At least 2 years of experience in a substance abuse services environment.
- Experience dispensing medications.
- Experience with phlebotomy.
- Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and teamwork skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in a methadone clinic.
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency.
- Familiarity with EMR systems.
