Role OverviewThe Substance Use Navigator (SUN) helps patients with substance use disorders (SUDs) move from crisis to a clear plan by linking them to evidence-based treatment, recovery supports, and community resources. This role focuses on identifying patients who could benefit from services, offering brief screening and motivational encouragement, and using a prevention and risk reduction approach to assisting patients with SUD—including helping patients access Narcan and medication for addiction treatment (MAT).
