Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Substance Use Program Manager for a FULL TIME assignment with one of our premier Not for Profit clients in Dobbs Ferry, NY.

Position Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Specialized Treatment Programs, the Substance Use Program Manager is responsible for providing a comprehensive program of substance abuse prevention and treatment services to the Agency's clients. The Manager is also responsible for ensuring program compliance with Agency policies and NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) standards and "best practice guidelines, including adherence to supervision requirements, clinical guidelines, staffing ratios and authorization for services.

Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge of company's and specific departmental safety policies with an annual review of all Worker's comp accidents that occur in the department.
  • Observes and promptly corrects unsafe work conditions and or an employee's unsafe work habits.
  • Manages all aspects of Safety in their area including performing accurate, thorough, and timely accident investigations and regular safety inspections to ensure all safe practices, equipment and or environment are in use or present.
  • Regularly checks the Driver's eligibility list on the shared drive if an employee is driving for work purposes even if the employee is in his or her own vehicle.
  • Sets a good safety example for the department and the agency.
  • Conducts initial assessments of newly arrived clients or clients who are referred for services; uses information obtained from interviews, tests, case records, and reference materials to identify actual or potential substance use disorders.
  • Develops and implements individual treatment plans, including type, frequency, and duration of services.
  • Interacts with clients to assist them in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning action to successfully address disorders.
  • Conducts chemical dependency program, including educational programming and treatment programs.
  • Counsels clients, individually and in group sessions, to assist them in overcoming substance use disorders and modifying behavior.
  • Utilizes the DBT-S model in therapy groups
  • Completes and maintains accurate progress notes, case records and reports regarding clients' progress, services provided, and other required information. Provides information for billing purposes
  • Participates in case conferences and staff meetings with treatment team members to ensure coordination of services.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of counseling or treatment and modifies diagnoses and treatment plans as necessary.
  • Plans and implements follow up and aftercare programs for clients to be discharged from treatment programs.
  • Selects, trains and supervises program counselors and interns, including responsibility for performance management and evaluation.
  • Assures quality of services provided by supervisees via chart audits, review of documentation and other supervisory activities, including participation in Utilization Review and QI committee for program.
  • Coordinates all substance abuse treatment referrals to outside agencies; maintains contact with outside providers for information pertaining to treatment planning, progress updates and discharge planning on any clients referred to outside providers or higher levels of care.
  • Manages and supervises drug screenings, continuity of care, and discharge of substance abuse service clients.
  • Assists and oversees any clients needing to access community self-help meetings.
  • Conducts outreach efforts on behalf of the agency.
  • Performs other duties when required or as assigned by executive management.
Required Skills:
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)/Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)/Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMC) accreditation required.
  • A minimum of three years' relevant work experience with children or adolescents in the substance use field.
  • Valid NYS driver license required.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis and treatment of substance abuse disorders.
  • Knowledge of adolescent behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
  • Familiarity with agency and state regulations and guidelines concerning the provision of substance abuse prevention and treatment services to children in residential care.
  • Knowledge of DBT treatment model.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience in the substance use field.

Preferred Skills:
  • CASAC licensure optional.
