Substation Physical DesignerOur client is a growing engineering and infrastructure organization supporting utility, transmission, substation, and grid modernization projects across North America. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers strong long-term career potential and exposure to complex, high-impact projects.Job DescriptionLead physical substation design efforts for projects ranging from 69kV through 500kV+Develop complete physical design packages including general arrangement drawings, plans, elevations, sections, and equipment layoutsProduce grounding plans, conduit layouts, cable trench designs, and station layoutsCoordinate equipment placement and electrical clearances to meet utility and client standardsSupport design development from conceptual engineering through construction supportPartner with Protection & Control, Civil, Structural, Transmission Line, and Project Management teamsReview vendor drawings and integrate manufacturer requirements into final deliverablesPerform QA/QC reviews to ensure design accuracy and complianceSupport field activities including RFIs, drawing revisions, and issue resolution during constructionMentor junior designers and support technical development across project teamsMaintain schedules and communicate design status across multiple active projectsThe Successful Applicant7+ years of physical substation design experience within utility, consulting, EPC, or power delivery environmentsExperience supporting substations from 69kV through 500kV+Strong understanding of substation equipment including transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, bus systems, grounding systems, and station layoutsProficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStationAbility to interpret utility standards, engineering drawings, and construction documentationExperience managing design deliverables independently across multiple projectsWhat's on OfferCompetitive hourly pay ranging from $55 to $65, depending on experience.Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.Contract-to-hire with long-term growth potentialExposure to large-scale utility infrastructure projectsCollaborative and technically strong team environmentCompetitive compensation and opportunity for conversionIf you're ready to bring your expertise as a Substation Physical Designer to a rewarding temporary role, we encourage you to apply today!Contact Lauren Just Quote job ref JN-062026-7052267
