DEFINITION:
Under supervision of the Program Director and/or Site Supervisor State Preschool Program, will provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
To interact, initiate and encourage the children in activities during the day; help the children control behavior using a positive and appropriate approach and using a consistent technique; to help children become independent; to help children learn good social skills; to maintain good communication with parents; to assist the teacher in planning activities for the group; develop a cooperative and supportive attitude within the classroom; to assist the teacher in record keeping by assisting on observations regarding the children's health, behavior and development; to help build a supportive team.

Education, Training, and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Must submit documentation at time of hire; • Valid California Child Development Assistant or Associate Teacher's Permit; or • Minimum of 6 units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Education coursework Basic Requirements: • Possession of a valid California Driver's License; • TB and Livescan clearance prior to employment; • Up to date MMR, Tdap and flu immunizations • Physical/Mental Health Screening by a licensed physician. • CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification; • First Aid certification or multi-media Red Cross certificate; • Bilingual highly desired.
