Substitute Athletic Trainer JobID: 37229 Position Type: Athletics/ Extracurricular/AthleticsDate Posted: 9/24/2026Location: MOT Charter SchoolDate Available: 11/02/2026District: MOT Charter School Additional Information: Show/HideSubstitute Athletic Trainer Casual/Seasonal Hourly Rate: $50.00 /hour (Playoffs: Soccer, Volleyball, Field Hockey, XC; Tryouts: Basketball, Swim and Cheer) POSITION OVERVIEWThis will be coverage for the Athletic Trainer for all Fall Playoffs should the Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball or XC Teams qualify. It will also include coverage of the start of Winter Season tryouts including Basketball and Cheer onsite. Attendance at Swim practices is not required. Additional dates may become available after this period. Under direction of the Athletic Director, the Substitute Athletic Trainer will help maintain the physical well-being of interscholastic athletes through the development and implementation of a comprehensive athletic health care program that focuses on injury prevention and provides for injury evaluation and immediate care and rehabilitation of injured athletes on an as needed basis.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all the responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate:Conducts initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care, and to determine whether they should be referred to physicians for treatment.Provides care for athletic injuries.Evaluates athletes' readiness to play and provides participation clearances when necessary and warranted.Applies protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces.Assesses and reports the progress of recovering athletes to coaches and physicians.Advises athletes on the proper use of equipment.Plans and implements comprehensive athletic injury prevention programs.Develops training programs and routines designed to improve athletic performance.Reports to Athletic Director/HS Principal for report times and duties for assignment.Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBelow are the qualifications for this position:Must be a certified athletic trainer through the NATA-BOC, licensed by the State of Delaware, and be certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid.Must possess a thorough knowledge of the DIAA regulations and other regulations governing high school athletic programs.Must possess the ability to maintain accurate records and prepare related reports.Must possess excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff members, and the public.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this position:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSThe work of this class is generally performed in a school environment or outdoors. Work may require the ability to move around the school, gymnasiums, or athletic fields. Duties may be performed away from school. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
