Description
The Broomfield Library is looking to fill multiple on-call Substitute Circulation Clerk positions. This position is scheduled as needed for coverage.
The Circulation Clerk works in association with other library staff to provide a high level of customer service to the public at the Circulation Desk. Their primary responsibilities occur onsite and include public facing interactions and materials handling. Circulation Clerk staff look for opportunities to further the Library, Arts, History & CSU Extension mission to create welcoming spaces for opportunity, growth, trust and connection.
Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties
Works with other employees to create a welcoming and safe space for staff and the public.
Follows library customer service expectations to greet and welcome patrons.
Assists patrons with library card registration and account changes.
Checks library materials in and out for patrons.
Runs overdue materials reports and communicates with patrons accordingly to keep library collection complete.
Responds to patron requests in a timely manner and provides customer assistance in person, on the phone and in digital and online communications.
Communicates with patrons to determine information needs and refers patrons to other staff as needed.
Maintains confidentiality of all patron data and information.
Processes incoming and outgoing Prospector and Marmot consortium loans and returns.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Experience
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to above requirements):
New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry.
Working Conditions
Regular, predictable attendance required.
Work may be scheduled on weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Physical demands are described as light (exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects).
Required to repetitively lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Tasks may require use of a computer for several hours.
