JOB DESCRIPTION

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Custodial Lead Pay Range: Classified Salary Schedule Prepared/Revised Date: 2025 Work Year: 260 days, on-call

SUMMARY:

Effectively and efficiently maintain a clean and safe environment at the assigned location for students, site staff and the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Listed below are the essential tasks performed to achieve the purpose of this job. The frequency of each task is listed as follows:

Job Tasks Descriptions Frequency % of time Clean restrooms, offices, hallways, steps, gyms, cafeterias, classrooms, and other areas as specified and instructed in a safe, efficient manner and within established guidelines. Pick up and discard trash in specific areas as instructed. Comply with local laws and Weld Re1 procedures for the storage and disposal of supplies, chemicals, trash, and waste. Sweep and mop floors, walkways, steps, and porches as instructed. De-ice and assist in shoveling snow from walkways and areas within 15 of building as needed and instructed. D15% Vacuum carpeted areas. Shampoo and spot clean as needed or as requested. Dust and clean shelves, lockers, blinds, furniture, light fixtures, and exhaust registers as needed and as requested. Clean chalkboards, wash walls and windows as needed and requested. D15% Use tools and equipment such as, but not limited to buffers, vacuum cleaners, wet-dry vacuum cleaners, various size mops, brooms, wet mops, snow shovels, hand tools, power tools, dollies, carts, trash barrels, buckets, etc. W10% Perform minor maintenance tasks such as but not limited to replacing light bulbs and tubes, mirrors, dispensers, unplugging plumbing fixtures, installing chalkboards, bulletin boards, shelves, and other similar duties. Strip and wax tile floors, maintain, clean and seal wood floors as requested. Remove graffiti as soon as possible. Safely handle chemicals according to chemical directions and Weld Re1 policy. Report emergencies and vandalism to appropriate personnel as soon as possible. W15% Safeguard all keys. Open, close, inspect and secure property sites as appropriate. A5% Move furniture, supplies and equipment as requested by supervisor or site administrator in a safe manner. Request assistance as needed. Set up and take down tables, chairs, and bleachers as well as related duties as instructed by the supervisor. W5% Properly maintain, transport and store custodial equipment, supplies and chemicals according to policy. Notify supervisors of need for supply and equipment replacement. D10% Report any accident, hazardous situations, or malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel as soon as possible. Work emergency overtime if needed. As Needed5% Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities. A5% Work cooperatively with and maintain professional relationships with Weld Re1 employees and other professionals within specific areas of responsibility. Maintain effective working relationships with Weld Re-1 staff and community representatives. Cooperate and work well with administration and fellow workers. W10% Perform other duties as assigned. M5% TOTAL=100%

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. Basic education skills as noted under the skills, abilities, and knowledge section. Previous custodial experience preferred. Such alternatives or additional qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate or acceptable.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate in oral and written English preferred. Ability to read and understand diagrams, written instructions on labels, work orders, memos, schedules, and instructions from school personnel. Able to accurately add and subtract whole numbers and compute ratios. Ability to measure and accurately use measuring devices. Able to meet deadlines and work within established schedules. Able to work well both independently and as a team member. Able to complete assignments by demonstrating initiative. Ability to identify emergency situations and reports to appropriate personnel. Ability to understand and comply with relevant laws and Weld Re-1 policies.

Requires a valid Colorado drivers license.
