Approximately 95% of graduating seniors enroll in post-secondary schools with students attending their best fit colleges and universities across the nation. All of our schools have been named National Blue Ribbon schools with Palm Crest and Paradise Canyon Elementary Schools recognized in 2021. La Cañada High School 78 was named a National Forum School to Watch" school four times most recently in 2023. All LCUSD schools have been designated as California Distinguished Schools with its three elementary schools recognized again in 2023.

Job Summary

La Cañada Unified School District is seeking substitute custodians. The chief responsibilities of a custodian include keeping assigned building areas clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly. The substitute custodian covers these responsibilities and performs other related duties as required for any permanent employee who may be absent.

Requirements

Qualifications

  1. Education: High school diploma or general education degree GED.
  2. Experience: Six months of experience in cleaning and maintaining building areas preferably in a school setting or any combination of training and experience that would provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
  3. Licenses: Possession of a valid California Drivers License and the ability to qualify for District vehicle insurance coverage. Ability to obtain all required federal, state, and local licenses and/or certification as necessary for cleaning materials, equipment, etc.

  3. Once applications are screened, selected candidates will be contacted regarding a personal interview which will take place at the District Office with an interview panel. Interviews will be scheduled during school hours on a weekday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Comments and Other Information

Work Calendar: As needed, 8.0 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Work hours would be 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the morning shift or 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for the evening shift. Stated work hours include a half hour of unpaid duty-free lunch break. The location of service may be at any site within the District.

Compensation: Placement on classified salary range 21 is dependent on experience as a custodian. The wage range is 19.25 - 24.55 per hour. Time is kept on a timesheet by calendar month. Paychecks are issued on the 10th of the following month.

Benefits: This position is not eligible to participate in the Districts benefits plans.
