Position Summary

ACPA seeks a dependable and community-minded Substitute Food Service Worker to assist with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup when regular staff are unavailable. This role ensures continuity of food service operations and supports our commitment to providing nutritious, appealing meals in a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch items following established menus and portion guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, serving areas, and equipment.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Support the Food Service Coordinator in implementing meal programs and dietary accommodations.
• Uphold ACPA's values of inclusivity, respect, and community-centered service.
• Follow all safety procedures and participate in required training sessions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in food service, K-12, or institutional kitchen setting desirable.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a school kitchen and cafeteria setting. The role requires adherence to safety and hygiene standards and may involve exposure to heat, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise levels.

Compensation

Hourly rate $22.00/hr,. Substitute positions are scheduled as needed (ie. daily, weekly, short term, longterm)
