Job Description:
Morris School District #54 is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Substitute Food Service Worker. In this vital role, youll help ensure our students receive nutritious, high-quality meals by filling in for permanent staff members on an as-needed basis. Qualifications:
- Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environment is preferred, but not required. Well train motivated candidates!
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to work effectively with students and staff
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow directions
- Previous food service or cashier experience is helpful but not required
- Ability to lift 35 pounds
- Valid Drivers License
- Must be able to successfully complete a background check and meet all state and district requirements for school personnel.
Duties:
- Overall cleaning of kitchen including, but not limited to mopping, sweeping and dishes
- Meal Preparation: Assisting with the preparation, cooking, and assembly of student meals (breakfast and lunch)
- Serving: Serving meals to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner
- Operating point-of-sale (POS) systems and accurately handling meal accounts
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; cleaning kitchen equipment, counters, and serving areas; and ensuring all work areas comply with health and sanitation standards
- Stocking: Receiving, dating, and storing food and supplies properly
- Rotate milk in milk coolers
- Count milk before service and after service daily
- Serve menu items during service
- Ensure serving lines are kept clean and presentable between lunch periods
- Breakdown and clean serving lines at the end of each day
- Perform other duties as directed by the Food Service Director and/or Administration
Benefits and Compensation:
- Position is considered temporary, as-needed basis
- $15/hour
- Hours: 11:15am-2:15pm (may vary)
- Not eligible for benefits
