    Description

    Bristol School is seeking a Substitute Health Room Aide to assist in providing healthcare for school-age students and staff on an as-needed basis and assist the school nurse in the smooth and efficient operation of the school health services.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Assists in the daily tasks of the health room under the direction of the school nurse or health room staff. Assists with health, injury care, and emergency care for students and staff and provides routine first aid services (temperature, bandages, assists with any student needs). Demonstrate the proper use of PPE. Assists in documentation (records, logs, etc.). Understands and follows school policies and participates in required training. Able to follow procedures in administering medication as needed to students and care plans for students with special needs. Able to communicate effectively with staff and families and maintain confidentiality in health matters at all times. Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to react quickly, calmly, and decisively in a crisis. • Organization skills, flexibility, and the ability to document accurately. • General understanding of health room maintenance, dispensing medications, and administering first aid. • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. • Ability to accept delegated tasks under the direction of the school nurse. • Technical skills necessary to effectively utilize technologies. • Proper phone etiquette. • Able to work and concentrate in an environment with frequent interruptions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma or GED CPR and AED certification or willingness to obtain Experience working with children in the health-related field is preferred Completion of Medication Administration Course preferred but not required
