The successful candidate will work collaboratively with County Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide health-related services, maintain medical records, support medication administration, respond to health concerns, and help ensure a safe and healthy learning environment. The LPN/Aide serves as a visible and trusted healthcare professional within the school community and is expected to model professionalism, courtesy, confidentiality, and respect at all times.Terms of EmploymentDay-to-Day Substitute when needed. SALARYBased on the WV Service Personnel Pay Scale.HOURSDetermined by the vacant position when a substitute is needed.EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with Pendleton County Schools personnel evaluation procedures and applicable state requirements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Work under the supervision and direction of the County RN staff.• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.• Assist with medication administration and documentation in accordance with physician orders, WV law, and county procedures.• Monitor medication inventory and recordkeeping requirements.• Support student health screenings, care plans, and follow-up activities.• Provide assistance to staff and students when medical issues arise.• Respond appropriately to emergencies and health-related incidents.• Support training and communication related to student health needs.• Assist with maintaining compliance with applicable WVBE policies and county procedures.• Perform additional duties assigned by the Lead Nurse, Principal, or Superintendent/designee.Minimum Qualifications• Current West Virginia Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License in good standing.• Meets requirements established by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses.• Successful completion of required background checks and fingerprinting.• Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality.• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain.• Successful completion of the Aide Competency Assessment (Aide Assessment).Preferred Qualifications• Experience working with children or adolescents.• School health, pediatric, clinic, or community nursing experience.• Knowledge of student health plans, medication protocols, and documentation systems.ProfessionalismThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Aide is expected to serve as a positive representative of Pendleton County Schools and maintain the highest standards of professionalism while interacting with students, families, staff, medical providers, and community members.Maintain strict confidentiality of student and employee information in accordance with FERPA, applicable privacy requirements, county policies, and professional nursing standards.Demonstrate professional judgment, ethical conduct, and integrity in all aspects of the position.Establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents/guardians, school personnel, healthcare providers, and community partners.Exhibit reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and a willingness to assist students and staff as needs arise.Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.Present a professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a school health setting.Participate in required professional learning, health-related trainings, and county initiatives designed to enhance student services and school safety.Support a positive school culture by treating all individuals with dignity, respect, and compassion.Demonstrate leadership during medical situations by remaining calm, professional, and responsive to student and staff needs.Follow all applicable West Virginia Board of Education policies, Pendleton County Board of Education policies, nursing standards of practice, and procedures established by the supervising Registered Nurse.
