Job Summary Under supervision of the appropriate administrator and general direction of a classroom teacher, assists the teacher in the instruction and care of students who are severely disabled, including management of student behavior, record keeping, instructional assistance, medical care, classroom organization, and interaction and communication with students, support staff, parents, and agencies.
Requirements Qualifications This position requires a High School diploma or GED and requires the employee to meet the Paraeducator criteria of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which is either 48 qualifying units of study at an institution of higher education or passing a qualifying assessment test. The Washington Unified School District offers the assessment test. It is recommended to pick up a study packet prior to arranging an appointment time to take the test.
