Qualifications

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent AND a minimum of 3-6 months experience in childcare, education or working with children in related activities. If applicant does not have an Associates degree, then applicant must be able to pass a Highly Qualified paraprofessional test.

Essential Functions

Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list is illustrative only, and is not a complete listing of all functions and tasks performed by this position.

• Observes and monitors control of students' behavior in the classroom, playground, lunchroom, school buses and other areas.
• Supervises large groups of students.
• Establishes, maintains and promotes a classroom atmosphere which ensures the emotional and physical safety and well-being of students and emphasizes mutual respect, self-worth, self-discipline, cooperation, consideration and responsibility.
• Assesses student needs and develops, implements and evaluates daily lesson plans for students to include scheduled activities and materials.
• Modifies instruction of program to meet the needs of each child.
• Plans, organizes and displays classroom materials, space and time appropriate to curricular activities.
