Job Description
DEFINITION
To develop parent involvement activities; to recruit volunteer aides and coordinate their activities; and to assist in the coordination of cross-age tutor programs.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from a Principal.
Exercises no supervision.
Examples of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Recruits volunteer aides and schedules their in-service classes and workshops. Coordinates with teachers the scheduling of volunteer work by parents. Conducts home visits as a means of motivating parents to volunteer. Maintains a list of substitute volunteers. Develops a reference list of available resources in the school community. Schedules and organizes parent meetings. Maintains a daily log of activities and updates a file on information related to parent activities. Assists the school in providing opportunities for parents to visit the school site to view the education programs in which their children are enrolled. Disseminates information related to all volunteer activities. Assists in providing opportunities for classroom teachers and other staff members to become familiar with the parent involvement component activities. Coordinates a cross-age tutor program. Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience and Education/Training (These are the minimum experience and education/training standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for examination as approved on August 27, 1996.)
Some experience working with adults in a volunteer program is desirable.
High school graduation or the equivalent.
Licenses/Certificates/Registrations
An appropriate, valid California driver license and auto liability insurance.*

PERS Retirement; Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance; Vacation, Holidays and Sick Leave. Benefits are available to full-time and part-time employees.

SCHOOL POLICE OFFICERS:

School Police Officers Differential compensation:
POST Intermediate Certification: 6% to base pay
POST Advanced Certification: 8% to base pay
Associate degree: 5% to base pay
Bachelor degree: 7% to base pay
Master degree: 9% increase to base pay
