Qualifications:

  • Criminal background check pursuant to W. Va. Code §18-5-15c, et seq.
  • Meet the definition of "Qualifications" pursuant to W. Va. Code §18A-4-8b
  • Demonstrate competency pursuant to W. Va. Code §18A-4-8e as required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have at least three (3) years of driving experience as a licensed operator of any vehicle
  • Must obtain and maintain a West Virginia CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsement
  • Must successfully complete the West Virginia School Bus Safety Program and pass all requisite online and skills tests
  • Must maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certification
  • Complete all required county and WVDE trainings
  • Must pass a physical examination from a Medical Examiner as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
  • Subject to drug and alcohol screenings
  • Must meet all requirements outlined in West Virginia State Board of Education Policy 4336, available at http://wvde.state.wv.us/policies/p4336.doc
  • The ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities as contained in the Job Description, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Additional Minimum Requirements:
  • Applicants who have recent unsatisfactory evaluations will not be eligible for consideration.
  • Applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration.
  • Applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations are not eligible for consideration.
  • Applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause are not eligible for consideration.

Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year.

Salary: Based on the 2026-2027 salary scale.
