The substitute teacher is responsible for supporting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher by implementing lesson plans, maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment, and fostering a positive and respectful learning experience. Substitutes work to build rapport with students, encourage engagement, and promote the development of skills, knowledge, and behaviors that support academic progress and personal growth.
Essential Duties
Education/Experience Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent required
A minimum of 48 college credit hours is preferred; retired CHCCS educators may submit a valid NC DPI license in lieu of college transcripts
Candidates without a minimum of 48 college credit hours must complete required pre-service training prior to assignment
Successful completion of a criminal background check
Minimum of two professional references, including one from a current or most recent supervisor
