    Substitute Teacher

Substitute Teachers at The Brook Hill School support the academic program by stepping into classrooms during a teacher's absence to provide continuity of instruction in a Christ-centered learning environment. Substitute teachers are responsible for managing the classroom, following the lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, and ensuring the safety and well-being of students. While not responsible for creating curriculum, delivering assessments, or handling discipline matters beyond immediate classroom management, substitute teachers are expected to model professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to Christian values.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Maintain a professional, Christ-like demeanor in all interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Implement teacher-provided lesson plans accurately and effectively across a variety of subjects and grade levels.
    • Maintain classroom routines and expectations as established by the regular teacher.
    • Ensure a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
    • Take attendance and report it according to school procedures.
    • Supervise students throughout the class period and during transitions as needed.
    • Communicate any concerns or notable incidents to the Division Principal or appropriate faculty member.
    • Leave detailed notes for the regular teacher regarding student behavior, lesson completion, and any issues that arose.
    • Protect the confidentiality of student information and school matters.
    • Follow emergency and safety procedures as directed by the school.
    • Be flexible and available on short notice, as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Principal or their designee.
