Castle Rock School District #401 would like to announce the opening of Substitute Teaching positions for the 2026-27 school year. Candidates must hold the proper Washington State credentials and/or endorsement in order to apply.

Please note that applications for substitute teaching positions will only be accepted during three designated windows each year. Each application window will be open for 3 weeks. Once closed, new applicants will have to wait to apply until the next open window.

2026-27 Substitute Teacher Pay Rates

Full Day = 7 .5O Hours

Half Day= 3.75 Hours

1-30 Days* $32.48/Hour

31-60 Days* $36.81/Hour

61+ Days* $41.14/Hour

LTS Days 1-20 $292.35/Day

LTS Days 21+ $324.83/Day

Substitute time is reported via Frontline Absence Management and verified by sign-in sheets at each building. Reports will be turned in by the building secretaries on the 30th/31st of each month for payment on the last working day of the following month. For example, substitutes will be paid for September 1st through September 30th on the last working day of October.

Castle Rock School District employees use direct deposit, and pay stubs will be available via Employee Access. Please keep your banking information current. Complete a new Direct Deposit form whenever you have changes to your banking information (change of bank, new account, etc.). Direct Deposit forms are available on our website or in the Payroll Office and must be physically signed and turned in at the District Office or Payroll Office for processing.

Remember, if you have any changes such as name, address or phone please request changes via Employee Access, or complete an Employee Information Update form and submit it to the Payroll Office. Forms are available online or at the District Office.

  • Substitute teachers who worked 60 or more days during the previous school year will begin the new school year at the 31-60 day pay rate ($35.91/hour).

There are no benefits offered except Employee Paid Sick Leave as outlined in RCW 49.46.210
