The Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and Christ-centered learning environment while implementing lesson plans, managing student behavior, and supporting the school's mission of academic excellence and spiritual development.The Substitute Teacher serves as a Christian role model for students and is expected to uphold the school's Statement of Faith, mission, values, policies, and standards of conduct. All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the regular classroom teacher.
Provide meaningful learning experiences that support student growth and achievement.
Adapt instruction as needed while maintaining continuity of learning.
Facilitate classroom discussions, activities, assignments, and assessments as directed.
Utilize appropriate teaching methods and classroom technology when applicable.
Maintain accurate records of attendance and student participation.
Classroom Management
Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
Supervise students throughout the school day, including classroom transitions and designated duty assignments.
Enforce school rules, policies, and classroom expectations consistently and fairly.
Address behavioral concerns appropriately and communicate significant issues to administration.
Promote student responsibility, respect, and Christian character.
Student Supervision and Safety
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students entrusted to their care.
Follow all school safety procedures, emergency protocols, and security guidelines.
Monitor students during arrival, dismissal, recess, lunch, chapel, assemblies, and other activities as assigned.
Report accidents, injuries, illnesses, or safety concerns promptly to school administration.
Maintain appropriate supervision at all times.
Communication and Professionalism
Leave detailed notes for the regular teacher regarding lessons completed, student behavior, and any concerns or accomplishments.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with administrators, teachers, staff, students, and parents.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student records, school information, and personnel matters.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when assigned to various grade levels, subjects, or classroom settings.
Arrive on time and be prepared to fulfill assigned duties throughout the school day.
Christian School Responsibilities
Integrate biblical principles and Christian values into interactions with students.
Participate respectfully in prayer, chapel services, Bible instruction, and other faith-based activities as appropriate.
Encourage students in their spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development.
Foster an atmosphere that reflects the love of Christ and supports the school's Christian mission.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and campus for extended periods.
Ability to supervise students in indoor and outdoor settings.
Ability to lift, carry, and move instructional materials and classroom supplies up to 25 pounds.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS
Profess a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Demonstrate a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles and Christian character.
Support and uphold the school's Statement of Faith, mission, and educational philosophy.
Actively participate in a local Christian church.
Model Christ-like attitudes, speech, and behavior in all interactions with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Previous experience working with children in an educational, church, or childcare setting preferred.
Ability to effectively manage a classroom and maintain student engagement.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to follow written lesson plans and school procedures.
Basic proficiency with classroom technology and educational software.
Successful completion of all required background screenings and clearances.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTEmployment as a Substitute Teacher is on an as-needed basis. Assignments may vary in length and may include preschool, elementary, or middle school classrooms. Continued placement on the substitute roster is contingent upon satisfactory performance, adherence to school policies, and support of the school's mission and values.
