Job Description:

Job Posting: Long Term Substitute

Organization/Location: Race Brook School, 107 Grannis Rd, Orange, CT 06477

Position: Long Term Substitute - Grade 5

Qualifications:

  • Strong classroom management skills for working with students
  • A collaborative nature, and a passion for engaging students

Requirements:

  • Connecticut teaching certification covering grade 5, preferred
  • Experience with elementary aged students
  • Strong communication skills
  • Collaborative with colleagues

Responsibilities:

  • Plan day to day whole group, small group, and 1:1 instructional opportunities
  • Engage students in learning
  • Differentiate instruction
  • Monitor student progress
  • Maintain excellent records
  • Create conditions for student success
  • Maintain curriculum operational data demonstrated in Teacher Maps
  • Attend SRBI and Data Team Meetings prepared with accurate data
  • Maintain student confidentiality

Term/Duration: To begin on August 26, 2026 through November 16, 2026.

Salary: The 2025-26 starting rate is $130 per school day.
