Job Description:
New Hartford Public Schools is seeking an outstanding candidate for a long-term substitute 4th grade Teacher position at Ann Antolini School. This position will begin at the start of the 2026-2027 school year and continue through November 14, with the possibility of extension. The long-term substitute will perform all responsibilities of a 4th grade Teacher. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrator to facilitate student success and growth in both academic and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals
- Ability to promote positive self-concept in each student; provide encouragement to each student to develop his or her full potential
- Successful elementary teaching experience preferred
- Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
- Promotes a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students
- Understands social and emotional needs of students
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
Responsibilities:
- Work in the interest of the students physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement
- Keep inventory of materials, equipment and supplies
- Maintain contact with parents, school personnel as needed to evaluate students academic and social growth
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents and staff
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
Required:
- Bachelors degree
- Applicable CT teaching certification
Pay:
- The daily rate for substitute teachers is $129. Please note for long term substitute positions (40+ days): The daily rate for long term substitute teachers with certification is $252.79 beyond the 40th consecutive day worked in the same assignment.
