Easton Arts Academy Elementary Charter School is a public charter school serving students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Purpose --------
This is a full-time position with benefits where the building substitute teacher provides instruction and manages the classroom environment when a teacher is absent. When a teacher is not absent, the building substitute will provide instructional support to designated classrooms per the building principal.

Responsibilities -----------------
• Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities. • Conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. • Follow objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students. • Assign class work and homework. • Read books to entire classes or small groups. • Administer and grade tests and assignments. • Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students behavioral and academic problems. • Reinforce administration policies and rules governing students. • Confer with other absent teachers to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning following approved curricula. • Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations. • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage. • Lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts, and crafts, music, and storytelling. • Supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers, or other experiential activities and guide students in learning from those activities. • Administer standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need. • Leave notes or complete a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular teacher at the end of the teaching day. • Communicate in a friendly and positive manner towards parents, students, and administrators. • Consistently displays professionalism and is collaborative with all staff. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities -----------------------------
• Knowledge of principles and methods of teaching elementary students. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Experience working with children and students preferred. • Excellent communication skills. • Must be punctual and reliable. • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting of up to approximately 30 pounds may be required. • Ability to follow and enforce rules, policies, and procedures. • Ability to communicate comfortably, written and orally, with students, parents, guardians, administrators, and others. • Valid teaching credential preferred. • Ability to pass a background check. • Energetic, driven, creative, and dependable. • Demonstrate patience and leadership skills.
Education ----------
• Bachelors degree required, preferably in education. • Elementary PK-4 or K-8 preferred; may consider emergency certification.
