Job Description

Title:Long Term Substitute

Reports To: Principal

Do you want to work in an environment where students’ needs are at the forefront of all decision-making? At The dePaul School for Dyslexia, we focus on identifying the needs of our learners and filling in specific learning gaps utilizing research-based, explicit, sequential, multisensory teaching methods. We support our staff with ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices for assessing teaching students with language-based learning differences.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Follow lesson plans and teach all subject areas.
• Track student progress and plan lessons accordingly.
• Follow established procedures and behavior expectations for the management of multi-age classes.
• Communicate with teacher and admins to inform, update, and discuss students’ challenges and successes.
• Maintain professional atmosphere.
• Regularly adjust to flexible scheduling and frequent student changes. 
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.
• Teaching experience required. 
• Experience working with children with language-based learning differences preferred.
