Job Summary Substitute Teachers work on an on-call as-needed basis. ACOE operates alternative education programs for middle school and high school students. The teachers provide educational programs in the court schools, independent studies programs, infant program, and parenting teens program.
Under the general direction of the Principal, Substitute Teachers instruct students in a wide range of subjects, including but not limited to English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, and electives. These subjects may be taught in a self-contained or in a departmentalized structure. County school settings require a teacher to be able to shift from a departmentalized structure of teaching one or two subject areas to teaching six subjects to one class as needed by the program.
