The School District of Onalaska is seeking substitute teachers. All applicants must obtain a current Wisconsin DPI teaching or substitute teaching license. Pay is $150.00 per full day and $75.00 for a half day. If you sub 20 consecutive days, each day after is at the base teacher rate (2026-27 rate is $274.31 per day).
This is an on-call position for open teacher positions that occur on an infrequent/daily basis throughout the school year. Once your WECAN application has been submitted with the required supporting documentation, you will be contacted via email on next steps in the hiring process. Please understand that August is a busy hiring season, so applicants may not hear from us right away.

Subsitute Teacher License
All substitute teachers must have Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) license. To obtain a license, applicants must have either of an associate''s or bachelor''s degree. In addition, applicants must have completed a substitute teacher training program. The district recommends www.stedi.org online option. Initial cost of this training and license is the responsibility of the applicant. Check out the Substitute Teacher License Directions to learn more on how to apply. Once you have applied for your license, please finish this application to be considered with the district.
