Substitute Transportation School Bus Mechanic - Part-time (as needed)
The Barnegat Township School District is seeking an experienced Substitute Transportation School Bus Mechanic to support school bus operations, as well as repairs and maintenance on district trucks and vans.
Job Duties:
Perform thorough, accurate PM inspections
Follow district required schedules and complete all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustment, and tire rotation
Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed and directed
Perform complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests
Perform emergency roadside services as needed
Ensure the school bus fleet is NJDOT inspection ready at all times
Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately
Maintain tools and workplace so that shop conditions are neat and orderly
Job may require on-call duty, extended hours, or weekend work
Qualifications:
This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by specialized vehicle and equipment repair courses applicable to diesel bus or truck maintenance and repair.
At least three (3) years experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy equipment environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Should have knowledge of Cummins engines as well as Allison Transmissions.
ASE certification is a plus. Valid CDL is preferred.
Mandatory criminal history background check and P.L. 2018 c. 5 clearance
Pay Rate: $40 per hour
